Actually, I think Mara looks like someone who didn't get her morning dose of psych meds. I think the cover's weird to the point of creepy.

The cover is an overall improvement but I liked Mara's eyes better on the old one.

For something they call an improvement, it looks kinda crappy to me.
It's too blurry and the trooper that we are supposed to see better just looks off now.
And why did they erase the hand holding the troopers back?

No.. In the old cover the only thing I didn't like was Mara's hair. So that's the better version for me

I love Zahn but Mara and the big 3 were the only good parts of Allegiance, in my opinion. I never got into the stormtroopers' characters.

I heard Allegiance was "meh", so I really have no interest in checking this one out.

If you like Mara, Luke or Han, it's worth reading, just not as got compared to his other work. And if you are a fan of the Pink 5 videos there's an awesome shout out in the novel.

If it's Luke before he's a Jedi Knight, then I really don't care. Same for Han "I don't believe in the goddamn Force" Solo. Mara as an assassin sounds cool, though.

One question: Is the individualization of the Stormtroopers at an approximate level to that of the clones in KT's Republic Commando series or TCW?

They are all individuals yes, but they are not clones, so it's not a big deal that they are individuals. They are a group of Stormtroopers who question the Empire;s methods and so go off on their own after an incident.

Personally I love the Stormtroopers characters. They give a very unique view of the universe that really isn't shown elsewhere during this time period.

The so-called Hand of Judgement was my favorite part of Allegiance. I liked Han's interactions with Luke, trying to bring him under his wing, but wasn't so much a fan of Leia and Mara in it. Mara's almost always by herself so it's kind of boring, and I really don't even remember what Leia does in it.
