I'm not much of a Narnia fan, but I know some of you guys are so this is for you.

Oh, there's a trailer now. I hope this movie isn't destined for the bargain bin. I can't say the trailer filled me with confidence in that regard. The film-makers sound like they understand C. S. Lewis though, so as long as they can secure funding, it should be good.

Narnia news at last!

Douglas Gresham (C. S. Lewis's stepson and keeper of his estate), has said that he still hopes to have more Narnia movies made, but legally there needs to be a seven year wait (this started two years ago) until a new studio can pick up the franchise. He hopes to make The Silver Chair next instead of The Magician's Nephew which is a huge plus for me. He also hopes to make the new films independently which is a double-edged sword: the script will be better monitered by Gresham and the Estate, but there will be a significant drop in budget. He also hopes to get Andrew Adamson back to direct, but he may be too expensive. Overall, I quite liked Adamson's films and, while they could have been better, I'd feel safer if he would direct than someone new. Please, no more Michael Apteds. Confused

The waiting is honestly half the fun when you have a good fansite. Wink

It's been over a year now since we heard that the Narnia film series would be on moratorium for at least seven years and The Lion Awakes biopic film focusing on Lewis and his friendship with Tolkien during WWII has obviously been canned.

What are your thoughts about the future of Narnia now? Have they changed at all in the last year?

Not really. I haven't given that much thought to future Narnia films. If it happens, I'll be pleasantly surprised (provided they don't suck like "Dawn Treader"), but I'm not holding my breath.

I still have a soft spot for Narnia. I love the first two films with a passion. One of these days, some of us should do a live chat of one of them. Smile

I'd be good with that. Razz

We might want to wait to see if anyone else would be interested though. Alan probably would. I vote we watch Prince Caspian for obvious reasons.

Or not so obvious. Why Caspian? Not that I mind, 'cause it's my favorite.
