I hated Jake Lloyd playing the role in TPM: Too young looking for a 9 year old - he looked like he was 5 or 6 - too cute and happy.

Eh I dunno... I liked Lloyd myself. I thought he did a pretty good job. I may be biased though, because I've seen him in person 3 times... Razz

Wow, pretty cool, Joe! And I also liked him. I thought he did an excellent job for his age. I bet not one person on this forum could act better than he could. I know I couldn't even come close. Acting isn't even close to easy, and I think sometimes we expect too much of child actors. Adults...sure, that's their profession, and they should do it correctly. But kids? They're not old enough to have a profession, but there they are. I'm just incredibly impressed with how well they actually do perform, considering.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be happy with a completely cardboard performance, but I thought Jake Lloyd did a great job overall. Some of his lines were dumb, but what was he going to do about it? That was Lucas, not him.

Anyway, in point, I was happy with his performance. Smile

You mean aside from the whole 'yipee' thing...right?

And "Let's try spinning that's a good trick!". I can't think of many adult actors who could make that sound good. Wink

That's kind of the point though. You were supposed to think he's going to be Darth Vader!

It wasn't the acting, it was the script. That, and my opinion that a better Darth Vader would have been a quiet intelligent kid rather than the normal one.

I have to agree with you. I think he is a great actor though. Smile

So, if Leo was in the suit just before Anakin's death, would Lucas change Luke's dialog as well?

*Anakin begins to slip away, and Luke lowers him down slowly...*

Luke: I'll never let go, Father, I promise...

Yes, the inherent flaw in casting Leo as Anakin. The Titanic jokes would be endless. Wink
