Point taken. Bad choice of words. He suffered amnesia as the result of the gunshots. Somehow or other. That's the best way I can currently think to put it. Neutral

I've been listening to Tom Wilson's Big Pop Fun podcast on Nerdist.com. Tom Wilson is the guy who played Biff in Back to the Future, so it's interesting to listen to him interview people. He's interviewed Mark Hamill, James Arnold Taylor (both great interviews), and now I'm listening to him interview Blake Clark.

Now Blake Clark isn't a name I would have recognized, but I knew his face from a few small roles he's done in movies like Joe Dirt and some of Adam Sandler's films. He's also been on TV shows. Little did I know, he was also a comedian and a Vietnam combat veteran. Tom got him to talk about some of his Vietnam experiences, and let me tell you, his stories are extremely interesting. If you like war stories, I highly recommend checking it out.

I like the interview so much, I went and watched one of Clark's stand up routines on Youtube. It's was way back in 1990, but I was surprise how relevant it still was. He was complaining about the same stuff we are now: government deficit, terrorists, traffic jams, etc. He had me laughing.

I usually hate the saying, "That awkward moment when...". But here I feel it's appropriate.

That awkward moment when you pass someone in the hall and they ask you several questions in succession, while still walking. And as they begin to get away from you, you realize you don't have time to answer all the questions, and must choose wisely. But your brain is in a rush, and you can't quite pick which one you should devote the fleeting moment to answering. And as a result, your brain tries to answer all the questions at once, your answers run together, and the other person continues walking in the other direction while you both smile at each other in proper cordiality. But you know the other person is thinking that you just made no sense whatsoever. Because you don't even know what you just said. Yes, I hate that. Neutral

I just read this article on cracked.com, i thought it was hysterical http://www.cracked.com/article_19974_the-6-most-absurdly-difficult-video-game-puzzles.html

It is however a random topic I read so it felt like it fit best in this thread.

I have been paying a woman for her ... services.

We've been meeting in various private places - my room, her flat, etc. -, a few times a week, late at night. She has helped me come out of my shell, and helped me gain more confidence - not just in myself, but in my abilities. It feels sordid and wrong, yet the few brief moments of pleasure, ecstasy and, yes, pain, are ultimately beneficial. But I can't help but think of what my girlfriend would say. Would she accept it? Or would she laugh at my weakness and leave?

Still, that's the price I must pay if I'm to learn how to dance.

...

What did you think I was talking about? Razz

Yesterday, in town, I walked past a DVD shop. In the window there was a picture of The Hunger Games DVD, and outside (it hadn't opened yet) were several teenage boys looking at the poster. They were arguing over what Katniss was doing on the cover. Here's a snippet of how it went:

Boy 1: I heard they call it 'archery'.
Boy 2: Nah, nah, I heard someone on the Paralympics call it 'shooting'.
Boy 1: No, it was definitely arche ... something. Archering? Hatchering. Yeah, hartery.

*Head explodes*

I'm still laughing at Life's dancing post. I hadn't read that before

One of my colleagues today whilst running a script (thankfully in a test environment) managed to disable a domain controller in Active Directory, which is next to impossible to do through the GUI, and even harder to re-enable. Was funny as hell at the time but if that was in our live environment we'd have stopped everyone in the company worldwide from logging into Windows.

It terrifies me when I make changes in the Prod environment. I'm just positive I'm going to screw something up and be responsible for World War III. Neutral

My thoughts exactly.

And a random question for you all: does anyone know where I could buy double shoulder holsters that look like Rick O'Connell's from The Mummy at a reasonable price? (reasonable being cheap given they are only for a Halloween costume and close enough rather than spot on movie replicas).

To explain: last Halloween I went as Indiana Jones. I thought I'd try to keep the whole "archaeology" vibe going by dressing as Rick O'Connell this year. But the whole costume wouldn't seem to really work if I don't have the shoulder holsters.
