Interesting. I tried posting with just the '2' and it wouldn't let me.

I think I'm going to have to talk to the mods about this thread. Seems like possible spamming/bumping/post-count-upping with no content to the actual posts. A neat idea, but...

Okay how about if we added a random fact about the number we post?

This would be post 8. According to the Beatles song there are 8 days in a week

Okay, that works. It creates a challenge (what to do with number 556?), and a purpose. Have fun!

12.

12 is a very important number in religion. Or, at least, it pops up a lot. In Ancient Greece, there were 12 Olympians, the main gods of the Pantheon. The Norse god Odin had 12 sons. Arthur won 12 battles against the Saxon invaders. Jacob of Bible fame had 12 sons. Jesus had 12 disciples (though religious scientists believed he had many more followers in his band, but there were simply 12 who were called disciples). There are 12 days of Christmas. In Islam, there are 12 Imams - legitimate successors of Muhammed. In Wiccan tradition, a coven is a meeting of 12 adepts.

It is also noted that there are not 12 constellations of the zodiac (which are only loosely associated with the signs of the zodiac), but 13.

14

"And 14 is 2 times 7. So if the Seven Dwarfs got married, there would be 14 in the honeymoon car. 14 is also the number of fingers on the hands of someone who's got three hands, but has lost one finger in a tragic shaving accident. And 14 is also one more than 13, which is unlucky if it's a Friday. So it's the day after Friday the 13th; Saturday the 14th, a busy day at the morgue."
