I am a fan of Sci-Fi as a genre, and Star Wars tends to be a prolific part. Besides the movies, my first interaction with Star Wars came from West End Games, before they sold out to WoTC. Yes, that means I played Star Wars back when the ability to write was required.

I am rather unfamiliar with the EU of Star Wars, my knowledge of planets extending to what I was able to read in SW: EAW and the innumerable mods I downloaded.

That being said, I am trying to write a piece of fan fiction, and I will ask many questions. Be ready. It is a New Universe for me. I tend to play EVE Online, so I have a lot of learning to do about Star Wars.

Morning! And welcome to you!

I've never played the board games, though if I recall correctly, there are a few here who are familiar with them.

Feel free to ask questions. Wookieepedia.com is a great site, if sometimes incorrect, but if there are any questions it fails to answer I'm sure I and the others will be happy to answer.

Welcome!

You can actually consider yourself unlucky to be unfamiliar with the EU. All those stories yet to be experienced. What all have you read?

I have read the Bounty Hunter Wars series by K.W. Jeter, about Boba Fett. Jeter is one of my favorite authors.

Also, Timothy Zahn's story about Grand Admiral Thrawn was a favorite. I also read a book about Thrawn's origin, can't remember the name to save my life. Vector Prime by R.A. Salvatore. A few others, but it's been years.

I want to write a short story, as I love the SW universe, and I have an idea, but don't know where to find the resources so I don't step on too many toes when it comes to the timeline. Any suggestions?

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page - Wookiepedia is a good place to start but its a wiki so some of the things you see on there may not be accurate. In general its reliable.

And of course the one and only Nathan Butler who shows up on some of the podcasts around here - he authored a pretty comprehensive Star Wars timeline.

I would also check out Nathan Butler's Star Wars Timeline Gold (http://www.eucantina.net/timeline), along with any recent Star Wars reference books (like The Essential Atlas). And Wookieepedia is a very good resource.

Welcome to the forums!
