I'll just say it: I like the COD games. I've not played all of them, though. One of the things I both love and hate about them is that they try to be as close to films as possible. It makes for both an intriguing story, and fun to play the first time round, but it's not as interesting with more playthroughs - except for when you try them on the higher difficulties. I remember one assault on a fortified hill in COD 3 that was pleasurably annoying - and annoying, too, when it doesn't give you much choice. I've always had the impression that Treyarch were bigger offenders than IW at this, though.
Like Vile, I am a SP player. That's where I get the most enjoyment out of a game, so I tend to wait until they're lower in price, to get them, as I feel they're not worth the £40 new sale price.
As for Mario, I've only played a handful of those, and the most current one was the Mario Kart game for the Wii. Which I happened to enjoy quite a lot. I would play it with my sister in the room, which perhaps made it a lot more enjoyable than it would have been had I played it, for the majority, on my own.
I've never played the GTA games to comment.
EDIT: Sorry, forgot to add my most overrated media: TV talent shows. _________________ I am a Star Wars fan. That doesn't mean that I hate or love Jar Jar. That doesn't mean I hate or love Lucas, or agree or disagree 100% with him. That doesn't mean I prefer the PT over the OT, or vice versa. That doesn't mean I hate the EU, or even love all of it. These are not prerequisites. Being a man is not a prerequisite. Being a geek is not a prerequisite. The only prerequisite is that I love something about Star Wars. I am a Star Wars fan.
