The Sith were pretty dominant 2,000-1,000 BBY. I wonder if SWTOR is going to throw a curveball and retcon it so that the "New Sith Wars" begins with the Great Galactic War so there's a large swathe of the timeline in which the Sith hold a sizable dominion over the galaxy.

Lucas created the Sith in such a way that they could never win completely. Their failsafe was the way that there was always treachery within their ranks and backstabbing. One sith always looking to overthrow another. Hence Banes Rule Of Two.

Ultimately the movies are about good triumphing over evil so even though Ep111 ends on a downer its only half way through the story. It ends with the rebels winning at Endor and the Emperor and Vader being defeated.

I liked him enough to be happy if he did appear in another novel, yes. Though not, I think, as the central character.
