Just finished Caliban's War by James S.A. Cory. Really good sci-fi book that blends in a little horror and mystery. Looking forward to the third book in the series which comes out next month.

I'm reading Watership Down by Richard Adams. I've started it many times, but I've never finished it.

I finished Ender's Game. I really enjoyed it and actually was dense enough that I didn't see the final twist coming. But that's ok, because I really enjoyed being surprised. I don't think I'll continue with the series, considering what I've read about it getting into more philosophical themes. Onto A Song of Ice and Fire for me.

Holy crap, you're on your way to a huge task. ASoIaF is freaking massive. I'm only in the 3rd book and I've been going awhile. Keep chugging, its amazing, but very rough.

I'm liking it so far, Granted, I'm only a few chapters in. The writing style is easy to read, though, so it's not like slogging through Tolkien or something.

Its fairly accurate to the time period its supposed to emulate, and there aren't any truly evil characters (well there's a couple). Its a different kind of fantasy epic, and I think if you're the kind of person who can stand some violence and some sexual gratuitousness then you're fine. Its a wonderful story.

Yeah, violence doesn't really bug me. I try to avoid sexual stuff when I can, but I'm sure it won't impact my enjoyment of the story too much.

The problem with avoiding it is that its fairly key to the story on a few points.

Yeah, I gathered that. Eh, I'll make it through, I'm sure.

I have no doubts. After you're caught up I'm curious as to what you think about a few things.

I'll drop into this thread from time to time with progress reports. Smile

I still have to read "A Song of Ice and Fire". I might try it over the summer when I have lots of free time.

I'm about three fourths done with Game of Thrones and will now rant in all caps.
