Interesting thoughts there. I don't think there is really a right or a wrong answer, but I personally feel like Lizzie's motivations were a sort of post traumatic rationalization, rather than full blown psychosis. I certainly don't see any evidence of sadism in her. We can't really evaluate her mindset from a purely psychological standpoint because it is not clear.

She stated that she believed zombies talked to her, but it is not evident whether this is a rationalization IE., she views their vocalizations as a form of humanist communication, or whether she is experiencing a psychotic hallucination.

Rather I think we need to consider it from a narrative viewpoint by contrasting it with the thematic element of the episode presented in the actions of herself, her sister and carol.

@Skulz: We saw the girls father. He died in the prison. Carol finished him off, but I don't remember if he was dying from sickness or got bitten. It was in the episode where Lizzie was nameing the walkers.

I totally agree with this statement.

Excellent point. It's a longshot, but it's better than the alternative.

I have a question: how do you think The Walking Dead is going to end? Perhaps more importantly, how do think it should end?

I was thinking about this last night and I decided I wouldn't want this show to go on to the point where there are no original cast members left. We're down to five: Rick, Daryl, Carol, Glen, and Carl. Personally I don't think I'd want to watch past Rick and Daryl's death.

So how should it end? I really have no idea. A happy ending seems out of place at this point, but how about a safe ending? A few characters survive the zombie apocalypse and start to rebuild civilization. They'll have deep mental and emotional scars, but they would be alive.

Or... should everyone die? I could go for a last stand where the survivors die fighting beside each other. It's depressing as kriff, but it would follow in the spirit of the show thus far and would seem fitting.

I think the only thing I definitely don't want is this show to just go on and on. People die and get replaced, rinse, repeat ad nauseam. I would like there to be some direction, for the creators to have some ending in mind. I just have no idea what that would look like.

From what the comic creators did, the story was always meant to be Rick's story. It's his journey. So the end should be his final stop on whatever journey he's taking. Not sure where I'd want his journey to end. As an old man looking back at coming to terms with the zombie apocalypse and still finding a life worth living? Facing a last stand, everything gone, only his life left to give in a world that's had nothing but pain? Don't know.

That's a good question. I don't really see how even in the way it's portrayed in the show a zombie apocalypse scenario could last decades or really very long at all after the initial onset of everyone adjusting to it.

If it wasn't for the Governor they would have been just fine at the prison, and that was just with like ten people. Heck if Andrea, or literally anyone, stood up to the Governor than Mayberry or whatever that place was called would have been even better. Are we really supposed to believe that there is no group larger than double digits that are capable of getting together and creating a living situation and deal with the zombies?

That's like living in the 17 century and never having civilization advance because of bears and tigers. If you wandered out in the woods alone, you'd probably be eaten. If you stayed behind a wall with a gun, not so much.
