I enjoyed issue 3, but I found it a bit jumpy. Like the cuts between different characters were too sudden and too often. Like, we're not done with Luke, but the next page is at a Star Destroyer, without any transition.

But I like the way the story is going.

I thought the artwork in #3 was the best yet. The two page spread of the Death Star was gorgeous and really, all of the panels looked really great. I love the lighting effects.

But the drama Brian Wood is creating with the characters is interesting. Who would of thought we'd see Luke and Leia fighting like real brothers and sisters. Laughing

I think the art and the layouts are just amazing in this series. I would gush more about in the reviews, but I'm trying not to write a 10 page review Laughing

Although I was not that impressed by issue #5's cover, of course anyone following Alex Ross is going to be seen lacking.

I have two words for issue #5: bloody Leia.

Really nice issue that kicked of the momentum of the series.

I like the cover art, except for the faces. They look like they've been photoshopped onto it.

I'll be honest, I don't like the cover. I actually don't like any of Beck's recent Star Wars covers, which is odd, because his old Star Wars covers were pretty good.

Also being honest, I have no idea what other covers Beck has done, as I usually just skip the names (not big on comics, so it's normally just meaningless words to me). I'll have a look at his other, new ones to see if they're on the same level as this.

I've decided to drop this title after issue 6.

While the story is somewhat interesting, I'm not at all invested in the characters. Indeed, many of them I don't even know/care about.

And the art is really jumpy. Like, I just finished #4 (and I'm planning on reading #5 tonight), and I was really surprised by a random panel of the Slave I flying through Coruscant, in the middle of a page that was about X-Wings fighting Imperials. There was no good reason for that random panel, which had no bearing on anything else that was happening at the time.

I had a similar problem with Issue 3.

In the end, I derive significantly more pleasure from X-Men comics than from this series, and so I'm comfortable dropping it after the end of In The Shadow Of Yavin (issue 6), in favour of picking up Astonishing X-Men (as of issue 62, which just came out, and slowly backfilling the collection digitally).

Star Wars #11 is out and it FINALLY wrapped up some big plot threads including Han, Chewie and Perla, plus the whole Rebel mole plot thread.

Thoughts...

I'm very happy I dropped that series. No regrets.
