What if Star Wars was done by a different director and with a different cast? If you could pick a different director and cast, who would you choose and how do you think it would have been different?

Let's start with A New Hope.

I'm going with...

Director: Martin Scorsese
Luke: Edward Norton
Han: Hugh Jackman
Leia: Rhona Mitra
C-3PO: Simon Pegg
Grand Moff Tarkin: Christian Bale
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Clint Eastwood

Han shoots first, Luke is still whiny but is an older Luke, and Leia kills Tarkin before the Death Star blows up.

Does the next person have to do Empire or can we do whatever episode we want?

Well I certainly didn't foresee the announcement when I made this thread. We might as well speculate on Episode VII now. Who do you want to direct and who should play the main cast?

Neill Blomkamp, perhaps, as a director? He seems a good bet. Of course, I'd like one more established, but Lucas' words 'the next generation of filmmakers' seems to point away from that.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Thrawn.

Perfect, Except for the director. I would have to go with...uh... Steven Spielberg

I cannot go with Clint Eastwood as Obi-Wan. I can't find it now, but I saw a great picture of an aged Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan. Perfect. I mean, he has already played Obi-Wan after all.

What age Al Pacino? Would it be the young Godfather Part I Pacino or the older, over acting Pacino we see later in his career?

Perfectly (for me) older than Godfather I, but younger than lets say Scent of a Woman.
Maybe Scarface kind of age. A bit younger and with less tan.

EDIT: Does anyone have a replacement name for James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader?
