That would be pretty awesome. I'd love to see him hop on board to do this, but I think Favreau's sittin' pretty to take the job. (Which I'm not opposed to at all)

Joss Whedon and Yuuzhan Vong would be awesome. But...! Star Wars for me is more about the story than the visuals. I'm most worried about the story being sacrificed for the Summer Blockbuster title. Meh.

There isn't a silver cloud you guys don't find a dark lining in front of, is there? Pull back from the dark side before it's too late. Very Happy

Now, now. Must you phrase it like that? Pessimism or depression are perfectly acceptable terms. Wink

One thing I will say about a Vong trilogy is that Chewie dying has "Whedon" written all over it.

Think about the logistics of a Vong invasion trilogy, though. Either they get Hamill, Fisher, and Ford somehow (not a good plan) or they simply redirect the focus to either an EU character or a completely new character. I find none of these options appealing.

Seth Green brought up good point asking "Does this make Leia a Disney princess now?" lol!!

Would this be the appropriate moment for me to point out that the original Star Wars was a summer blockbuster? In fact, it pretty much defined summer blockbuster.

Star Wars has always had spectacle and that's what made it fun. But the OT also had a killer story and characters.

I'm intriqued by the thought of Episode VII, but I'm not jumping for joy or despairing. Like I said earlier, my fandom was already dying when this news broke. The disappointing thing for me is that my interest in the EU was just starting to rise from the ashes with the news of a Jaina Solo trilogy, Kenobi etc.

My sister drew this as a cynical response to the whole fiasco:

The idea of Disney now owning Lucasfilm is really not that big of a deal to me. As others have said, it's the same Lucasfilm, they're just owned by Disney now. What has my head spinning is the news of Episodes 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, etc. every two years. I would be scared enough if Lucas had decided to make another trilogy without selling the company.

My main concern is that the new movies will:
a. Chew up the EU continuity and spit it back out, and
b. Continue so long as a cash cow that they will stop being good movies and, if they somehow manage to avoid step a, they will eventually get there if given enough time (Star Trek, anyone?)

So I think it's safe to say that CVII will take place in 2015 if the movie truly comes out then... Laughing
