Star Wars Live-Action Series Discussion

Here is where you can discuss the upcoming Live-Action series, slated to begin production in late 08'/ early 09'.

Okay, I've been seeing that both the Clone Wars series coming up and the Live Action series both say they're going to be directed at more adult audiences, as opposed to kids. Which is fine with me, because I'd rather a more mature story. However...I'm wondering what they're going to do with the content, if you know what I mean. Obviously the violence and such isn't an issue at all, but are they going to keep the series clean of language and sexual content and such? The movies managed to stay that way all the way through, and for that I was very happy. I don't know...but throwing that kind of thing into the SW mix would just mess it up for me. I don't like that kind of thing, personally, in my entertainment, and I've always extremely appreciated SW for staying clean (for the major most part).

So just wondering if anybody had any ideas/opinions on that.

One thing that drove me crazy with the prequels was the romance between Anakin and Padme. I grew tired of it and am glad AOTC DVD's chapters are divided just right so I can skip some of those moments. I know the emphasis was on that romance because it plays such a large role but I grew tired of the emphasis, I guess. If they do more with like the romance between Han and Leia, then I'm fine with that. Also, I don't need scene erotic show either; just stick with Star Wars.

I don't think we're going to see anything too new in the animated series. At worse, we'll see the death of a viable character and maybe some mild torture. Nothing beyond a PG rating.

Now the Live Action series could be another matter. It's going to be very character driven and has been described as dark, mature, and dramatic. That leads me to think we could see some brief romances (implied content), drug use, and of course violence. Mention of bounty hunters has been made so we can probably expect a story or two on them. Still I think the rating won't exceed PG-13. Of course I'm not sure what rating cannibalism gets. it seems to be a touchy topic that has been popping up lately. Not sure if it'll show up in the series.

Yeah, I wasn't too worried about the Clone Wars. It's mainly the Live Action series that concerns me. But I guess we'll have to wait and see. Yeah, the romance annoyed me in AotC, but only because it was so awful. I certainly don't mind a romance and all that stuff. Just sexual content and obvious innuendo is all I'm worried about. Plus excessive language. Like I don't mind the occasional word, but when they really get to cursing, that gets to me. So anyway...I hope they keep it good. I'd be really disappointed if I have to skip watching these. Cause I'm really looking forward to them! Much as I didn't like the idea to begin with, I'm starting to get excited about it. Smile

I would find it very hard to believe that Lucas would let the Star Wars universe go down the path of innuendo and language. He must know that regardless of where it may end up on a network or cable, kids are still going to try to watch it. Plus, if he attempts to have any kind of merchandise come from this show, it will hopefully be kids who will drive the sales.

Lastly, could you see any SW character say the "F" word?? Look at BSG, in that universe they say "Frack" and "Felgercarb" (at least the second word comes from the original series).

I think Lucas is too smart to let the Universe go down that path.
