Here's the thing. DelRey has not produced one single book (post-NJO, if you want to debate Mindor) that has rocked my world since The Unifying Force. People can say what they want, but so many books in the NJO totally blew me away. And you know what it was? The use of the characters! But so many of them are gone now, or so screwed up that they're useless.
Actually, I lied. The Republic Commando books completely knocked my socks off. But Karen Traviss was the author of those books, and she will forever be placed in her own category in my opinion. Apparently she and DelRey didn't get along too well, so I'm going to attribute those bits of genius to her. Meaning the Commando books don't count.
DelRey has lost it's touch. Maybe it's the mass releases. So many books so fast, they're just not as special anymore. I don't know. But the only thing I'm looking forward to right now is Imperial Commando. And once again, that's Karen Traviss. So...sorry, DelRey. But my faith in you is wavering. _________________
