I'm actually kind of excited by that. The idea that we can create a shade of consciousness that isn't physically bound but could exist digitally is intriguing.

And terrifying. Razz

I'm incredibly skeptical that we could ever replicate consciousness in a machine as it exists in humans, because I'm not convinced that the brain = the mind, but it will be interesting to see how far we can get.

See I'm of the thought that the brain does equal the mind as it stores the information that makes you you.

The idea of a conscious intelligence in a digital existence can be scary merely because it almost makes us obsolete. We need sustenance, rest, money, all of that when an existence living digitally does not so its a curious subject.

Scientists have discovered an exoplanet, Kepler-452b, that's the closest thing we've found to a 2nd earth.

I believe that I saw this when scrolling through my Twitter feed the other day. I didn't actually read the article then, but this looks very interesting.

I read that this morning and found it incredibly interesting. Only note is that they have no way of telling what the planet actually looks like, or what kind of environmental conditions it has. They just know it is in the range from its sun that Earth is, and that its sun is the same type. Still, very awesome.

[Granted, it's far too far to reach as of right now...]

I get the feeling that when we get real pictures of it, they'll eventually send a colony of people there. And when that happens, we'll receive periodic news from the space colony while they make their journey to "Earth 2.0." Then, after a plethora of generations, they(the original colonists' offspring) will arrive, and live happily ever after.
