Anyone interested in joining can post in here. It looks like the Thrawn Trilogy is an early favourite, but if anyone has any other ideas feel free to post them.

....you really made me want to re-read Crystal Star, but I'll swing with the majority.

Haha I'd be down with Crystal Star too. We would just need to convince Mara and anyone else who wants to join that reading an awful book is just as fun as reading a great book. Razz

For the good of the mission, I am willing to re-read The Crystal Star. Wink

In the last book club, we read three chapters per week with discussion weeks in between (or were supposed to anyway Razz ). If we followed that pattern with The Crystal Star, this is what it would look like:

Week 1: Chapters 1-3
Week 2: Discussion
Week 3: Chapters 4-6
Week 4: Discussion
Week 5: Chapters 7-9
Week 6: Discussion
Week 7: Chapters 10-11
Week 8: Discussion
Week 9: Chapters 12-13
Week 10: Discussion

The last two reading weeks have two chapters instead of three because there's an odd number. The chapters are fairly long, so we could also do one or two chapters a week, but obviously it would take significantly longer. I think I could manage three chapters a week, but I know that life can be busy.

The majority of my Star Wars book collection is still at my parents' house, so I need to get my copy before we start. Should be able to get it Friday. As for how many chapters, I think we can certainly start with three per week, and see how it goes. I'm very busy right now, but I can at least give it a shot! If it's too much, we can always cut it down.

^ I was just thinking somewhere in the weekend would be a good place to start each week because it's the end/beginning of the week and will be easier to remember.

So let's start Week 1 on Friday, July 15th and begin Week 2, which is the discussion week for the first three chapters read in Week 1, on Friday, July 22nd. Obviously you don't need to wait to read till Friday though, but we'll set that as the official start date so that Mara can have a full week to read.

Sound good?

Surprisingly I'm already through the first three chapters. It is nice to be reading Star Wars again! Although I do remember it was hard to read about the toddler Solo children back then, and it still is. Ha.

I'm going to pace myself and do the chapters but yeah, it feels amazing to do Star Wars again. I'm psyched Smile

I had the same feeling when I got back into Star Wars reading a while back. It's like going back to one of your favourite places you hadn't been to in years.

For me the attraction of the EU has never been great individual stories (though those certainly existed), but the immersive and interconnected nature of the universe. That's what I fell in love with. I guess that's why I can get excited about re-reading a book I thought was badly written. It's strange. Even when Star Wars is bad, I still love it.
