Just another update for everyone: from April 6-9 there will be another free weekend pass for those who have yet to play the game: http://www.swtor.com/news/%5Bnews-category%5D/20120404

So if any of you missed out on the first free weekend pass here's your second chance. (not available for people who took part in the first free weekend pass, so no option to mooch a few extra free days of gaming on an existing account)

I've seen these free play weekends; presumably you have to spend £35 on the game, then play free?

I've already got an account so I can't say for certain how it works. However, reading the FAQ it sounds like you don't have to buy anything and, assuming you don't opt to buy the game and start a subscription, you won't pay anything when the trial ends (FAQ)

So it sounds like this is a genuine free deal.

You just follow the instructions on the TOR homepage and you can play for free, no catch there. It's really just a trail and you only have to pay once they hooked you after a free weekend and you can't stop playing (like they did me Wink )

Well at least during a free trial you can. I suppose you could download the client for free outside of a free trial, you just wouldn't be able to launch it without a registered copy on your account or a free trial code thing on your account.

I think this weekend free pass closed today but they'll probably do another one again soon enough. Alternately if you don't want to wait you can convince a friend who already plays the game to send you an invite (gives a 7 day free trial which sounds like it works similar to the free weekend pass deal).

So the next free weekend pass is here: http://www.swtor.com/info/news/news-article/20120417-1

It will run from April 19-23. (You have to register by April 22 2:00AM CDT). Like before no payment is required.

Just FYI for those of you who would be interested.

My happy thing of the day: my male Jedi Shadown finally has a pair of pants (yes I am actually excited about having a pair of pants). Previously I had had to make do with wearing a dress ("lower robe" in TOR-speak). Which bugged the heck out of me since it seemed very uncovert ops. The last time I was this happy about new gear was playing Morrowind when I finally could wear head gear other than a Colovian Fur Hat.

(No offense to you girls out there who like wearing dresses).

Pants do seem to be rare for the Jedi/Sith. Early on its okay then buy the next planet you cant get them or if you do the stats are really poor. I think the only way to get pants is to craft them isn't it?

You can get pants from planet Social vendors or with fleet commendations from the Starship upgrades vendor at the fleet. I've heard that the Balmora bonus quest series rewards moddable pants but I haven't visited that planet yet so I can't confirm it. Otherwise I believe you are right that you need to craft it yourself.

My Sith Warrior has pants!

But it's possible that it's because I'm a Juggernaut, and so can use heavy armor. Mayhap pants are more rare in medium and light armor?

From what I've seen Rep medium/heavy armor wears only have pants. However, apparently everyone who wears light armor wears lower robes. The movies need some retconning so every member of the Jedi Order wears lower robes/dresses instead of pants with their light armor. Wink

and again another free weekend pass promo that runs from May 17 to 21: http://www.swtor.com/weekendpass

Again just an FYI.

In other news I discovered that when a quest is orange they really do mean it will be difficult to solo. On the other hand I found a heroic mission on Nar Shadaa that I was 8 odd levels high for. So the quest was grayed out, yet the boss repeatedly destroyed me. I'm hoping that it was just because I hadn't upgraded all of my companion's armor. Here's hoping that when I go back several more levels higher and with better gear the boss still doesn't kill me with ease.

So for those of you who may not have checked your account in a while: Bioware is introducing server transfers on select servers to move people from dead or dying servers to pre-selected more populated ones.

Also the game finally has a looking for group tool for those of you who found the game lacking in the ease of forming groups.

You're a little bit behind, man. Server Transfers started like 3 weeks ago.

I've already moved all my low-pop-server characters to a busy one. Best thing Bioware ever did.
