I've just started DN 1 as some of you know, so I know a bit about him.

I like him. He's cool. I wonder what he'll be like in LOTF (of course I'm the only one wondering that Razz )?

I was disappointed with him in the beginning of the Legacy books, but he's really turned around. Wait until you get to those books!

He seems like a good kid. Unfortunately, he is sure to be tested severely as one of the Skywalker clan. Now, I don't think that's a spoiler, it just follows from what we've seen of Luke's, Mara's, Leia's, Han's, Jaina's, and Jacen's(rueful smile) adventures and exploits.

Oh, it certainly has been; you have him wanting to be with Jacen to see action; then he sees action and wants to hide it; then that action harms him and now he sees how important it is to stop harmful action. I do admire him, but I thought he'd be a lot like Anakin Solo and was, therefore, disappointed with him. But he's becoming his own character which is even better than being the "replacement" of another.

I like Ben. I see a lot of promise of him becoming the next Grandmaster of the Jedi Order. He has the potential to do a good job leading them. I'm guessing his role become larger and larger as the next set of Star Wars books get under way.

Problem with his investigation was that it was so obvious yet took so long to get to. It shouldn't have taken Ben proving with physical evidence of Mara's death that Jacen was evil, but maybe his whole warmongering and lack of interest in life. The longer a series is, the longer it takes the authors to get Luke jump started (consider the Dark Nest vs LotF and how quickly Luke moved in dealing with those threats).

But back to Ben, with the release of the new book cover, has his character really changed from LotF? I've read numerous times on how well Luke and Ben got along, but recall how well Jacen and Ben got along in Betrayal. However, that really didn't tell us who Ben was just that he followed Jacen wherever he went; is Ben doing the same in this book (Outcast) but following Luke around instead. I'm curious but won't pick up the book to find out.
