I'm going to say no. Obviously they have to be the ones who implement the change as they have the power, but I don't think the majority of politicians are actually capable of handling the issues in a way that will benefit the average citizen. Remember we left things in the hands of the politicians with the expectation that they would make sure no major screw ups happened and instead they got us into this mess through ignorance of the situation (willful or otherwise) and in some cases encouraged the practices that got us here. For example the Bush Administration (along with other politicians no doubt) as I recall supported the banks sub-prime lending stuff.

I think as voters we need to have our voices heard to give input on what we feel should be done instead of just assuming the elected politicians will act in our best interest. That being said I'm not suggesting a knee-jerk reaction that whatever a politician says is automatically wrong (especially when it is opposing political party) because otherwise nothing will get done.

I'm alittle bit weird that way. I think democracy is flawed. Autocracy shouldn't have been thrown out the window, it should have been improved on. Like, let's say, the King/Queen gets a list of rules to avoid them turning into oppresive monarchs, but still giving them control.

See, I'm a fan of democracy, but it doesn't work unless the people use it. Democracy gives the people the power, but unfortunatly they have the power to hand it right back to the government. This worries me because when people get too lazy to make their own decisions and hand that ability to the government they whine about it shortly thereafter, but one day we may not be able to fix it...

New Topic for Debate: Should Ben and Vestara have a "thing"?

I think it would be a bad idea on Ben's part- hooking up with a Sith- but for sake of story I admit I'm warming up to the idea.

No, simply because it was obvious from the beginning that's where they were going with it. I hate predictability. Confused

I'm with Padme on this. Predictability sucks. I'd rather see Ben not fall for it. Common sense says it's a bad idea. She's a Sith. He should know better.

But he won't because he's a teenage boy and she's pretty. Rolling Eyes

Is this a flaw in teenage boys, or in girls being pretty? Razz

In the unfair portrayal of Jedi teenage boys who have been taught control losing their senses when they see an attractive girl. Wink

Maybe it's a Skywalker curse. Luke fell for every girl he met, even his sister Laughing

Let it happen! Vestara deserves a reason to stay in the Star Wars universe!

Wait. Since the Sith were all crazy about genes and heritage, hypothetically if Ben and Vestara hook up, and eventually she gets pregnant, then the Skywalker line will be forever tainted with Sith genes. Shocked

Eh, true. Ick. Wink *gasp* The Skywalker line must not be tainted! The horror! Personally, I think they should kill Vestara somewhere along in line.
