T4 seems to be pretty reviled by many Terminator fans. T3 wasn't all that good, but the only thing seriously wrong with it was the lame villain. People love T2 but T2 is what sets up the predestination paradox- If they keep Skynet from being created than how could it send a Terminator back in time if it never exists? T3 was necessary to fix that and if it dropped the ball and led the franchise to ruin, it was James Cameron that sowed the seed.

I got a lot of feelz about Terminatior and Time Travel. Don't get me started if you thought my Hulk rant was bad, that was nothing.

Although I agree with you on many lavels try looking it from this perspective:

T 1&2 were from another era. An era where the good guy didn't need cover in a firefight, where he didn't need to aim to hit his target, when reloading a weapon was optional and so on. It was all about explotions and testosteron.
It would be perfectly acceptable if the first 2 films were just about that, but they were more. They had epic music, emotions and unusually strong story for an action flick.
T3 tried to copy that (failed on the emotion part), but it came out in 2003.
Something like that may have worked in the 80s/90s but in the post 1st Matrix era? Unexceptable.

That is my view.

Same.

Now I want to go back and watch all four films and see what I think.

But not the show. Never could stand the show.

Aw, more haters for the Chronicles. Although I already knew that. Wink

I've only seen T2. I was much younger, and I remember not liking it much. I may have to rewatch them.

I was never a big fan of the Terminator movies. Of course, I had seen them when I was a kid, quite a few times, but I never really bothered with them. It was only until a few years ago that I sat down and watched them all from beginning to ending. Same with the Alien movies.

Finished Iron Man 2, mostly watched it for the Black Widow parts. The ending was anti-climatic, not much had changed - except for Tony Stark's relationship status. I really want a Black Widow prequel too!

Got dragged into seeing Battleship. Didn't really want to see it at first because I thought it was going to be a mindless explosionfest. Even though there were plenty of explosions, the plot was decent and the movie was very enjoyable overall. It was much better than I expected and it was a pretty good alien invasion flick. Not to mention, it has Liam Neeson.

One thing though: It bore little resemblence to the game. Most of the movie I wasn't even thinking of the game (except for the alien bombs looking like the game pegs... Laughing ). It seemed like they thought of an original storyline, and threw the Battleship name as an afterthought to make more money.

Watched Super 8 yesterday. It was quite good. It had the style of the 60s - usually I hate that in films actually from the 60s, but I thought it worked well. I was surprised by the plot, more than anything. For some reason I thought it was a superhero film, where the kids are involved in an accident and are given supernatural powers. That obviously didn't happen (it's a monster film, with a monster that looked suspiciously like the Cloverfield one). What was I thinking of?

Oh, and watched Men In Black. Brought back some happy memories Very Happy .

I also saw Battleship and thought it was a fun movie. It's an action flick, but they did a good job with it. There were some cool firepower moments when the ships open fire on the aliens, there was some really good humor tossed in here and there, and being a huge AC/DC fan, I loved the two songs they played.

The inclusion of the wounded vets and the old retired vets was a nice touch, too. And the aliens were neat looking (with and without their armor).

I'm tempted to see this movie, but the fact that the alien weaponry looks like the pegs in the game is just too dumb to me, I'm not sure I can make myself go see it.

I actually didn't like the look of the aliens. They looked like humans with a spiky beard and slightly different hands. Battleship suffers from the "Avatar Syndrome" in this respect. There's a big budget and beautiful special effects, God forbid they come up with some creative aliens! Rolling Eyes

If Battleship does well enough at the box office do you think that they'll come out with a Monopoly movie? I hope they get Tom Hanks to play the thimble.

It was actually announced back in '08 that Ridley Scott would be doing a Monopoly movie. I don't know where that went.

And Laughing at the thimble comment!
