Eric Bana is a good actor and Ang Lee is Oscar Nominated yes, but that doesn't mean what they do will be good. Hulk was disjointed and semi-coherent. Ang Lee had a vision but it had nothing to do with the character, it had to do with his interpretation of it.Between the inconsistent size of the Hulk and the horrible addition of Josh Lucas as an almost throw-away character the film suffered. David Banner's part in the film also came off as ridiculously stupid if you know anything at all about the source material and even if you don't the script was awful. There is nothing high-brow about this film. For high-brow films see Aronofsky, see Nolan's first film, see Terrence Malick, see Nicholas Winding Refn. Ang Lee didn't make a high-brow or artistic rendition of a Marvel character, he botched a blockbuster by trying to throw in too much of his own nonsense and insisting that his comic book frame shots were worth it. Edward Norton's film displayed him working with meditative techniques and attempting to hunt down a cure and while the film was more of a regular, standard film it came off as entertaining while the first one came off as long, inconsistent, and boring. Also, the guy who directed Clash of the Titans is indeed awful, but bad directors are still capable of pulling something good out of nowhere sometimes. As pointed out Joel Schumacher was a well respected director but Batman and Robin was terrible. Yes, Clooney offers people refunds for it, but its still an example of the opposite of what happened with The Incredible Hulk. One bad director made a decent film, one good director made one of the worst films ever made. _________________ Perfection is a lifelong pursuit requiring sacrifice. The only way to get it quicker is to sacrifice the most.
