Looks like one of the castles which Frederick II(1194-1250) built in Italy when he was Holy Roman Emperor and King of Sicily. So, I'm guessing the 13th century.

It's much younger than that.

But it does have earlier eras as an inspiration, even when it was considered to be quite modern and forward looking building when it was done - and it has been itself been an inspiration to later buildings, so it is kind of hard to place.

Which is why I choose it. Wink
