Rather important interview at 10. Wish me luck.

You may be wondering why this is a gripe. That's because I don't think I have a Bat's chance against Bane.

Somewhat disappointed in Chick-Fil-A. I don't usually go along with "Support Days" for businesses. Mainly because I suppose I'm selfish and don't wish to deal with all the hubbub and chaos that's related to the event. But I gave in today and decided I would brave the crowds and get a milkshake.

I waited in the drive-up line for 30 minutes, just to get into the parking lot. My intention all along had been to go inside. And I'm glad I did. Amid some kind of stroke of confusion among the line of people inside and my own attentiveness to the situation, I noted a cashier with no customers. So thankfully I was able to get immediately up to the counter. Only to be informed that they were completely out of ice cream. Neutral

So my complaints are:
1. You knew this day was coming, you should have prepared yourself, supply-wise.
2. You cannot account for everything, so you should at least have had an employee warning customers out in the ridiculously long line that you are out of a rather important menu item. Not everyone goes to Chick-Fil-A to get chicken.

I simply think they could have warned the line that there was no ice cream. I waited 30 minutes just to get in the parking lot, what if I'd waited another 30 to get to the speaker to order, only to be told then? Or, what if I hadn't managed to sneak up to the counter and had waited another incredibly long time to reach the counter?

I know there's only so much you can do for a mass invasion of customers, but they knew today was coming. They had plenty of time to be prepared. Confused

Perhaps they underestimated exactly how big of a deal it would be.

Not a personal gripe but just very sad news for those of you who didn't hear:

A white supremist shot up a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on Sunday. 6 people were killed before the police shot and killed the gunman. It has been speculated that he mistook the Sikhs for Muslims. Overall just very very sad that this happened.

Does it even matter to a white supremist, whether he kills Sikhs or Muslims? It's sad that people die, because of other people's narrow mindness.

My dog is sick. She vomited up her food and refuses to eat or drink. She's immobile. I hope she feels better soon.

Today and yesterday were the most horrid days I've had at work, ever. Not only was it busy, but I was accused of doing something I did not. *sigh*

I've woken up with the most excruciating ear pain I've ever had. I think I'm gonna go to the doctor. I can't think straight.

And while we were on holiday, my brother's iPad and dad's work MacBook got stolen from the hotel room. My brother's iPad is mostly material, as he only got it recently and not much was on there, but ten years of work and photos from his travels are gone.

I'm always terrified that's going to happen. So I've learned a few techniques.

1- the in-room safe is your friend.
2- if something can't fit in the in-room safe, put it in your luggage and then lock the luggage. People might swipe something that is visible and valuable and light, but it's rare that they'll steal entire luggage sets for the possibility that something is in there.

I went into town today for an interview, however, as I arrived in town I suddenly felt rather ill. I tried to hold on until I got to the main street, as I felt some water would help. I didn't make it, and had to rush into a nearby shop to stick my head down the toilet (not for fun, this time). And during my interview I became very woozy. Couldn't think straight at all. The interview was okay, just a basic thing of little consequence, but I could barely walk afterwards Confused .

The staff at the shop were very helpful, though. I got them a big bar of chocolate in thanks Smile .

Gripe of the day: I didn't pass my language exam. In order to get my Master's I have to pass a translation exam (which, since I'm doing the archaeology of the Northeast USA, is largely pointless since I won't be reading documents that aren't in English). But it is a college requirement, the catch for me is I had no language requirement as an Undergrad so the last time I studied a language was 10th grade (roughly 10 years ago).

I'm majorly bummed since I spent the last six weeks doing virtually nothing but cramming for this exam, tried really really hard on both the exam and to relearn German. I know the professor did the right thing by not rubber stamping a pass for me but it still sucks to give something your best shot and not have it work out.

I am very sorry to hear that, Salaris. Chin up, though. You know you worked hard. You'll knock it out of the park next time. Smile

Sorry Salaris. All you can do is try again. I hope you do better on the next one.

That does indeed suck, and I'm sorry to hear it. You did your best, though, and that's all anyone can ask of you. I'm sure you'll pass it next time Smile .
