this is just something that i've been wondering, but, with all the usual stereotypes that geeks can never get a date or anything, how many of us here are in a relationship?
sorry if i offended anyone, i'm just kind of curious Smile
for the first time in my life, i have an official girlfriend (there were some instances where i thought me and a friend of mine were going out...and she apparently didn't realize i thought that. hurts 'cause i love her dearly Embarassed )

Well first off a hearty congrats to you! May it last a long time, and produce memories that you can treasure forever and always turn to for comfort when life gets tough.

I can sympathize with the "going out but not" thing. Up until two weeks ago I was going out with this girl, thought we were headed towards a real relationship and then found out that we weren't (to make a long story short). I'm ever hopeful though that something will work out (after reading the Republic Commando novels I've come to the conclusion my real-life nickname should be "Atin" because I am quite stubborn).

All things considered I would say what happened recently is probably the best negative experience I've had on the dating scene since it ended up more or less mutual parting so the emotional damage was relatively easy to contain.

Anyway, for me my problem of getting dates probably isn't so much being geeky so much as either 1) too focused on my work to do much social stuff, thus meeting dateable girls is somewhat problematic, 2) lacking the courage to ask the girl out or 3) getting the courage to ask the girl out but finding out that I took too long or she already has/had a boyfriend.

Well...I don't date. My family doesn't believe in it, and personally, I'd rather avoid as much heartache as possible. Not that I'm going to completely avoid it, as I'm sure it could certainly happen if ever I do meet a guy, but...I tend to like the preventative measures. Smile

Granted, there are a couple of guys that I like. Smile

I just got out of a serious relationship in July. It's great to be in a relationship but the heartache is horrible. Like some days I just cry because I just miss that person in my life. I mean I know I'll have more relationships it's just I don't want another for awhile.

Ehh . . . had one back in March . . . lasted 3 days . . . let's not go down that road. If I could choose, I'd be asexual. Razz

My relationship just came to a very bad end and hopefully the rest of you won't have it come to such a bad end.

Crummy---I guess mine hasn't come to an end yet becuz we've never taken anything serious yet or ever will...just hav tons of fun....most of the relations thus far that Ive witnessed breaking in front of me is the whole 'long term' commitment stufff. As long as you steer away from such questions...and as long as you dont seek the answers like a predator....You can reaaaly enjoy a relationship....

i know want you mean, i had that happen to me tis summer two days after our one month suddenly another had come into her life... there were two things that made it almost unbearable were that during the 4th of July she was messing around with this other, but he worst thing by far was that it was a girl i had dated a few months before and she used to be a friend of mine...... that burned for months, i only just got over it a month ago...
