Yes, she's said that she will go ahead with Imperial Commando 1 and 2, but after that she's finished. The Boba Fett novel is no more, unless they acquire another author. And you know, if I were Traviss, I'm pretty sure I would have quit, too. The whole thing is just ridiculous.

Has anyone read any of her non-SW stuff? (ie. the Wess'Har series) It sounds like it might be good. (sorry if this is in the wrong topic, but since this is a topic about Traviss, I thought it'd be okay...)

I don't think I've ever heard of a series ending midway before. Season 2 has practically no hype for me anymore.

If all this is true, which I have a feeling it is, what with the picture and everything, I feel really sorry for Traviss. And us, the fans. This is, I believe, the biggest display of disregard for an extrememly well established section of continuity that Lucas or whoever's in charge has so far come up with. The problem with simply writing off the Clone Wars as a different continuity is that they're not going to return to what we knew before. No more will be written about the Mandalore we knew and loved, no more can be written about Kal Skirata and the Clones unless the entire story is revamped. No, they're going to stick to what they've come up with now until they decide to change it again! And that makes me mad. Evil or Very Mad

You know, I wrote Karen Traviss about the whole thing, and she wrote me back! I didn't really think she'd be taking the time to answer fans, especially now that she's quitting, since I figured she'd probably be getting a ton of mail. But nope, she answered me within an hour. And her answer applied to what I had said, so it wasn't just generic. She read what I wrote. I was...impressed. And happy. Smile

Now thats impressive....and now i actually think KT was perhaps amazing.
Ive been writing to Lucas for a while now...still no reply:P
I wonder why Rolling Eyes

Shocked Is Lucas serious? "Cube City"? Come on, I realize he's the creator of the saga, but it it really necessary to wipe out the current continuity? Season 2 of Clone Wars just became of less interest to me than it already was. Sad

On a happier note, I am excited that the Imperial Commado books will go on as planned.

Well, the CW has already proved to be mostly non-canon, so why not? Razz

Yeah I was really worried for a second cause Order 66 is NOT an ending! So long as she writes the final Imperial Commando novel where it has a real ending I'll be happy (though I hope she doesn't retcon everything to fit into the whole "cube city" idea).

Why would the Mandalorians live on an uninhabitable world? They'd be completely reliant on outside exports to survive. And that is completely against the whole idea of the Mandoade. They're not the type of people to be reliant on outside trade. And what kind of warriors would want to live in a box? About the only thing this would explain would be the Mando's self contained armor. But how does any of Lucas' ideas justify overwriting what's been established in the comics and the books? It's not like Mandalore was unexplored territory.

This is just stupid. We're losing the Mandalorians to a freaking cube.

Sad isn't it. Another important thing a bout Mandos is they live a fairly simplistic life, so the very thought of them living in a life-supporting cube seems wrong. How are you even supposed to be patriotic to the thing?

I hope he doesn't actually call it "Cube City." That would just make it worse. Crying or Very sad

Cube City? That's like an entire world made up of snow, lava, forest, or ocean! What kind of creative genius would limit himself to a world made up of one geographical or technological feature? Wink

Personally I don't think that Cube City is a stupid idea. It looks kind of cool. What is a stupid idea is having it be for the Mandos. He could have used it for any other new planet.
