Well, there's been a lot of school bashing going on and I thought it deserved an official thread. Feel free to express your anguish and, heck, even joys if your feeling optomistic. For me, personally, this year is really hard, like I said before I was homeschooled up until high-school, then I went to a backwater school in the middle of nowhere (not that I'm complaining) for two years and now, here I am, in high school. The biggest thing is that the people here are a lot more cold than I'm used to. Other places I had no problems making friends and all that stuff, but here... I don't know.
So without being too hard on our public school system, have at thee.

Ah, just when I need it, a thread to vent my frustrations appears! I just scored low on an algebra test. Again. I don't blame my instructor, I blame the material. Why is everyone required to take the same advanced math course, even those who have no skill for it and won't need it for their intended major?

I don't really mind school to be honest, I enjoy it actually. Right now I am studying a lot of computer science courses, so its something I enjoy doing.

However, I hated high school back in the day.... if that counts.

We are of the same mind. I could never figure out why in high school I had to take classes that taught me about "logs" (which I still don't understand) instead of understanding real world math, such has how to read all the thousands of charts and graphs you can see in any random newspaper. Or how you figure out odds (not that I'm a gambler mind you). Heck they could have even made it real interesting by relating odds to C3PO and asteroid fields.

I guess I was lucky that my college only required me to take a math class and didn't really care which one I picked so long as it was in the skill level they assigned me.

I also hated high school. The kids at my school were for the most part just in it for themselves (and a few of the teachers were wannabe college profs who just couldn't cut it).

Hmmm. So college/university isn't as bad as high school? That's a relief. Smile

Don't get too relieved, Reep. The first year of college is mainly courses that you'll never use. But I suppose it depends on the college. Good luck! Very Happy

Ha, that reminds me. Last week was Homecoming Week at my school. There were posters everywhere saying that it was time to vote for the "homecoming court". I was like, come on, guys! We're in college! Aren't there more important things than winning the plastic tiara (I don't know if it was really plastic, I'm just making a point Wink)?
