I like it. I didn't go in expecting a scary story because really, stories don't scare me. But that doesn't stop me from reading Stephen King books, cause the stories, scary or not, are fun to read and are adventures. I thought Schreiber did a good job with Deathtroopers. It had gore and horror elements, and some really good scenes that were memorable. I wouldn't say the book was great, but it was good.

Some scenes that really stood out for me was when the young Wookiee got attacked by his parents right when everyone was turning on the ship. Then there was the hill of bodies with the one zombie crawling through it and around it like an ant. Plus the scene with the Imps on the shuttle slowly explaining just what their situation was. And I liked the scene with all the lungs in the tank. All nice and creepy.
Plot wise, I think the idea fit it perfectly. I could definitely see the Empire making some super weapon like that. And the way it's sort of a fluid that they have to continual feed off of, it made for a nice background. It's also funny how "Blackwing" ties in with his other new novel No Door No Windows, and how that one in turn pays homage to Deathtroopers. Kind of neat.
