Hey guys! So I've been away for quite awhile on a vacation of sorts. Since approx. 2002, my family and I have been visiting Colorado to help a family we know run a camp for some kids up there. And we've just returned! Let me just say this...Colorado is not Louisiana. While the temperature was fairly phenomenal, the dryness in the air was nearly unbearable. My lips were cracked, my skin was cracked, my sanity was cracked. I missed my Louisiana humidity with a passion. One night we even had a rainstorm to rival all rain storms, and by the next afternoon the ground was as dry and cracked as ever. Had we been in Louisiana, it would have been a muddy mess for days.
The camp was rather primitive this year in that there was no electricity or plumbing. We had showers fed by generator via two huge water tanks, though the showers were open to the sky. So that was fun. Being without a sink for a week was also an interesting situation. And you just don't realize how much you miss small pleasantries when your greatest desire every day is wanting to wash your feet. The dust there...is was just everywhere. And one's feet were never clean except perhaps while in the shower. But anyway!
I don't want to say all of that to complain, because I greatly enjoyed myself! And the camp was for the kids, who really enjoyed it. So I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves for the most part.

Camp property on the planning day (Saturday):
Camp property in another direction on the same day:
Note the very sophisticated contraption for airing up our mattress:
Taken about 10 minutes before the sky breaks loose:
During this lightning storm, we were all stuck under a pavilion for over an hour:
These did not actually hit the water tanks like they appear to have done:
More lightning - That light under the lightning bolt is the little bitty light on one of the two cabins on the property:
Just a view of some of the camp - Girls' cabin and tents:
We were about 10 minutes behind the town, but you would never know it in the daytime. It was quite attractive at night, though:
The counselors were so worn out, I made a coffee run to town every morning to save our sanity. I have pictures of that, but I'd rather not show pictures of people. Anyway, had a great time, but so glad to be home.
