KarenTraviss.com was updated today with the following:
“Site updated July 9 2008
NEWS - new series, new books, new covers
Yes, there is a NEW SERIES out this month, and judging by the mail I’m getting,
folks don’t seem to realise what it is. There’s a NEW FIVE-BOOK STAR WARS SERIES for
adult readers based on the Clone Wars movie and TV cartoon show, and I’m writing
three of them. But because the movie and the TV show are for the youngsters, and I
write adult fiction, then you can deduce that the novels will show you stuff you
won’t see on screen. (This is separate from the young adult books that are also
being published. )
CLONE WARS, the hardcover based on the movie - loosely based, so no griping that
it’s different, because that’s the whole point - is out on July 26. Full of the
gritty, off-message, character-testing, question-raising, grey-area,
military-oriented stuff you’ve come to expect from me. And clones. Plenty of clones.
And familiar characters from the movies that you won’t see quite the same way ever
again.
My good buddy Karen Miller is writing the other two novels. She doesn’t write
predictable books either, so stand by for a challenging series that will make you
take another fresh look at the Clone Wars. “
Sounds like we can expect for the novels to go away from the children aspect of the TV series. Should be interesting!
Thanks to Zee Zee for the tip.

Kotaku reports that Amazon has Battlefront listed for 2009.
Retailer Amazon has listed tentative dates and platforms for Star Wars Battlefront III, long rumored to be in development at Free Radical, developers of Haze and Timesplitters. While we’ve been under the impression that the UK based dev was hard at work we didn’t know how hard at work they are. According to Amazon, Battlefront III is coming to everything — Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS, PSP, PlayStation 2. OK, not everything, since it doesn’t list a PC version, but if these listings are accurate, anyone and everyone will have access to a version of the game come March 2009. We await more news at E3 next week.
I believe that LucasArts announced that no new games would be announced at E3 but this may change things.

We told you recently about a listing on Amazon for a novel by Star Wars fan favorite Aaron Allston. Sue Rostoni told us that she couldn’t comment on the story; yet. She has commented on it now, on the Star Wars.com message boards. She says:
“They can’t count the pages of a book that hasn’t been written yet.”
She makes no comment on whether there will be an Aaron Allston novel to come in the future.

With the release of Chapter 10: Game Update 5, fully integrated voice chat can now be found in Star Wars Galaxies. Coming to Star Wars Galaxies players at no additional cost, voice chat can now be used to chat with your guild and groups!
The integration of the in-game voice chat brings several brand new UI elements: the Voice Bar, the Voice Users Window, and a new voice tab in the Options window. In addition to these improvements, there will be a speaking indicator in the group window, a target window, and you will see a name plate of those using voice chat above their characters.
For more information on all of the improvements and how to use the new chat feature, check out the announcement article for the voice chat here. It seems pretty simple to me and a lot of fun. Looks like an awesome time to join SWG to me as well.
